The July Revolution: A Call by Hizb ut Tahrir to Complete the Journey
Two years have passed since that historic moment when the tyrant Sheikh Hasina fled the country. For the people of Bangladesh, that was a moment of relief, but it was also a moment of deep reflection. While others are busy celebrating and claiming glory, Hizb ut Tahrir remembers the long road that brought us here.
Our struggle against the tyrant did not begin in July, 2024. It began in 2009, when the Pilkhana massacre struck down our sincere and brave army officers in a conspiracy against the nation. We exposed Hasina regime’s collaboration with India and we stood firm. We have carried the weight of sacrifices when others were silent. When the uprising ignited in 2024 and the streets turned into battlefields, we were present in those crucial early days with our call and guidance to the nations and the people of power.
Yes, the tyrant fled to India, but that victory was not the end of the story. In fact, we must be honest: that revolution remains incomplete.
The people did not just want to remove one person. Their hearts and thoughts were guided by something deeper: their Islamic faith and the desire for true independence from domination by the Colonialists. The people of this nation do not want to bow to India, nor do they want to be puppets of America. The people want to be free from all foreign chains. However, looking at the situation now, it feels like that hard-fought freedom is being handed over to the Colonialist powers of the West. This is not what our youth died for. This is not the “true independence” the people dreamt of.
O People! Now is the time to correct this course. The influence of these foreign colonial powers is weakening. This is our chance, but we must act fast.
This is why Hizb ut Tahrir is stepping forward. We are not just another faction. We are the only party with a clear, ready plan to lead this nation from that “incomplete-revolution” to the “real revolution.” We have a ready constitution, effective policy papers, and a team of sincere youth forces and veteran politicians.
We have not compromised our Islamic principles for a single inch over all these years, nor will we now. We have the preparations and the capability to steer this country toward safety and honor, establishing the promised Khilafah Rashidah upon the method of Prophethood.
If the people and the sincere elements of this country do not unite under the leadership of the Hizb ut Tahrir, the July revolution will remain an unfulfilled dream forever. We cannot let the sacrifices of the people be in vain.
Let us not waste this opportunity. Let us respond to the call of Allah ﷻ and His Messenger ﷺ, for He ﷻ is the one who truly gives life to nations:
﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اسْتَجِيبُوا لِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْ …﴾
“O you who have believed, respond to Allah and His Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life” [Surah Al-Anfal:24]
